HI have a question to anyone re. connecting to SL.

Just recently my connection has stopped - get as far as the connecting to user server and hangs.

When i try again i go straight in to the crash report bit.
Try again back to the user server/ hang
ad infinitem...

I have posted a hotline, sent a support log to no avail ( it is the weekend even at linden labs i guess)

Does anyone have any sugestions or have had this before ?

I have tried the following so far :
Reloading 2ndlife (strangely my login details are still there )
Switching off my firewall
Switching off the windows firewall ( windows xp)
Switching off all virus checkers
Running a windows repair
Waiting an hour or so between attempts ( just in case i hit a busy time )
Scratching my head
Scratching my PC
Drinking decaff instead of normal coffee
Drinking Juice instead of coffee

Praying to mekka

All to no avail.

Any ideas ?

( system is a Toshiba Satellite laptop - Windows XP - ATI graphics - 3.6 Pentium 4 - 1gb ram - ADSL connection )

Cranberry Juice seems to help on a rainy day.

Delete these folders:

C:\Program Files\SecondLife
C:\Documents & Settings\<username>\Applications\SecondLife

Be sure to copy any inworld snapshots you've taken from the first folder before you delete it. As far as I know, those are the only proprietary files you might erase.

Once that's done, reinstall the client. You don't necessarily need to download it again but it's not a bad idea. I do this for most updates.
