I was thinking of not posting this, but then thought perhaps someone could learn from this, and not repeat what has already been done.
Last night I was doing my normal SL Basics event, and there were around 7 newbies there. Unfortunately there were also some Mentors there wearing houses and over-sized costumes and parading around the Stage in DORE during the event.
You can probably understand that this was a HUGE distraction to the new players and of course, a source of frustration for me.
For those of you, and I won't mention your name, who were doing this, I have this question: Do you think having your parade and interrupting a fellow Mentors event is respectful? One thing for certain is that if I were a spiteful person you would have totally turned me against your cause.
I can understand that you feel the need to protest and parade, but when was the last time you saw me interrupting your event?
I would ask that you show me the same respect I have always shown you in the future.
Thanks!

That was a labor day event methinks, I'm sure they didn't mean it... unless of course they did.

I apologize, Bob.
This was a Labor Day parade, in search of an audience. I'm sorry if we disrupted things. It was only meant to entertain.

*mini rant follows*
IMHO, if you are not actively engaged in working with new people, or actively looking for a new person to help, you should not be wearing the "Mentor" title.

That wasn't the problem, but rather that several of us who are also Mentors at other times were at this moment engaged in silliness instead. I don't think any of us were wearing Mentor tags, just that Bob was pointing out that as long-time residents we should have known better, and he was right.
