we already have the opportunity to do this... A: before every major release and B: everytime we log in to the current version "Live playtesting" means that users play the game while usability experts observe them. It is different from a preview or public beta test, where users do their thing at home and report bugs. Designers and developers have some expectation of how you will use the product, and while you may not think to file a bug because you have to drag 50 items from a box of textures into your inventory one at a time, a good usability test would identify that as a problem to be fixed. I have used live usability testing when developing software, and it's the only way to know if your UI works before releasing it to the masses. Many, many software/hardware developers use this approach. Anyone who doesn't is either ignorant, arrogant, or just doesn't care about creating a quality product. If LL isn't already doing live usability testing, I hope it's only because they are ignorant, because that's the easiest one to fix. _____________________

TSO has a test city - Test Center - where the residents go about their business like in any other. The only difference is that they are generally a release ahead of the other cities. |
