There are very little open spaces in Second Life. Everywhere I go, it looks like urban sprawl gone wrong. Aside from the few restricted areas, there is no "open" space, let alone a spot of land available for purchase.
Am I missing something, or is SL crowded?

SL is perpetually crowded, but we can deal with that.

Land and objects from beta people who didn't sign up for memberships will be going public soon (*sniff*) AND a whole wadge of new sims have recently been added in the Northern part of the wolrd AND we've been promised even more new sims R.S.N.

They actually show the next installment of sims to come on the world map, not the in game one but if you go to Community, then resident life, in the bottom right corner there is a link for a world map which lists all the old sims, new sims and the sims they plan to add next JV

Wow have you not looked? I got a slewww of land over in Varney all around me. Lots of land in Perry too. IM me if you want land on the main land, I can show you loads of spots that have tons of open land, and I don't mean underwater. If you buy enough land underwater though, there is a way to totally raise the land up to the surface if you don't want underwater land. Some places look neat with the water there however, so it just depends on where you want land. All the Northern places are not bad, but I've found that some of the public land there costs double, 96 bucks per 4x4 plot. Don't need land that bad if it's gonna cost that much. Taxes are bad enough.
