My friend sent me this link this morning, she read about it in our local paper.

Here is an blurb from the site, check it out, some are funny, some are witty, some are what I would class disturbing, some are tear worthy... But ALL are fascinating, I think its a wonderful project.

You are invited to anonymously contribute your secrets to PostSecret. Each secret can be a regret, hope, funny experience, unseen kindness, fantasy, belief, fear, betrayal, erotic desire, feeling, confession, or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything - as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before.

Create your own 4-by-6-inch postcards out of any mailable material. But please only put one secret on a card. If you want to share two or more secrets, use multiple postcards. (Please do not email your secret.)

Please put your complete secret and image on one side of the postcard.

This is similar to grouphug.us, but the execution is far better. The first time I saw PostSecret, I wondered what their letter carrier must think. I have to imagine it'd be pretty unsettling, taken completely out of context.

I am currently busy compiling my own postcard entitled I really want to stab and maim one of my co-workers endlessly in the eyes with a spork until she GETS OFF HER ARSE AND DOES SOME FARKING WORK.

It is an angry card!

I think that's determined to be "justifiable sporking" in most jurisdictions ;)

Wow... fascinating. So many of these, like the one from the suicidal soldier, just make me wish I could hug these people and tell them it's okay.

It kinda makes me wonder... how many of the people I see around me each day are broken inside like this, hiding terrible things? How do we make it through the day? It makes me want to be nicer and more forgiving with people.

I got linked to post secret from a blog I regularly visit a while back, and forgot all about it.

Its definately one of the most moving pieces I've found in a long time, and was a pleasant surprise to see it linked here.

I think its just part of being human that everyone carries around with them *something* that to them at least, is painful.

Sharing that pain anonymously like in post secret - helps others to know that there's nothing wrong with them, or that they're not alone.

All of them.

We are a culture so drenched in shame that even when we have nothing to be ashamed of, we almost inevitably manufacture something.

But most of our secrets aren't deadly, and most of our shames could be dispelled with a little compassion, acceptance and honest communication.

I think this project is a good start.
