Here's what Haney said about that on the Announcements forum.
"On Tuesday, September 2 at 5 pm Burning Life will disappear forever – objects and land ownership will be wiped, leaving participants and visitors with a lingering suspicion that it was all a dream…..
Mauve and Chartreuse will return the next day for normal settlement."
The real mystery for me was why the actual burning of the effigy came and went on Saturday, well before the end of the time set aside for the festival.

I was confused about that too, but the closing ceremonies at Burning MAN were Saturday night. I suppose Burning Life was just following that schedule.
