I just want to say that I am happy to advertise Second Life on my website, but if you want to reward me, please pay me in Linden Dollars in the event that someone actually signs up from my advertisement. I have no need at all for petty cash, I mean that's no incentive at all. Not for me at least. I'd rather be able to pay off my Linden Taxes than have $10 or some such amount... It's so petty. Why not give us something to REALLY be tempted by, like getting to build a little more, or keep what we have without fear of losing to the taxes.
Errr... Thanks for listening... Love Ingie

Hi Ingie - The referral program is still in place for folks who rather earn L$ for introducing new folks to second life. Referral = L$ ( https://secondlife.com/account/friend.php) Affilaite = R$ ( https://secondlife.com/affiliate/) thanks for your enthusiasm

I was about to say the same thing as Ingie. So far I've made 12,000 L$ on referrals and I'm not sure I'd want to trade that for the real-money equivalent (well I'd trade it for $12,000, but you know what I mean).
My "advertising" has consisted of nothing more than including my Referral URL in my signature for other forum postings. Since most hits on my web page are, I'm afraid, the results of errant Google searches, I'm not sure how much additional revenue they would yield. Worth a try though!
I took a look at the Referral kit hoping to get some suitable graphics though and noticed that it has 4 logos in EPS format (I'm not sure what this is, but my PDF viewer opened them... Embedded PostScript maybe?)
I think it would make sense to have some smaller logos blessed by LL in JPG and/or PNG formats that are more common for web work. These would be more useful for inclusion in web pages, as part of email signatures, etc. They need to be similar in size to the logo at the top of the forum page for example.
There is actually a standard I think for banner ad graphics of at least two sizes. I don't know the numbers off the top of my head but I could dig them up if it would help.

Well, I feel better in that they are going to keep the referral system, but I'd like to display the news items, etc... that they plan on having available, etc.... etc... However, I don't want to give out my SS#. Not that I don't trust SL, but I don't trust the Internet in general with ALL my information. It's just a point I have never crossed yet and don't want to.
Oh well, It's not all that bad, maybe it'll help someone pay for a cool website who otherwise couldn't??
Love Ingie
