I've known for a while that different graphics cards produce different ground texture appearances. I have an NViDiA 420 MX, I believe, and from what I can remember, I don't think this produces the best ground texture. I'm just wondering what the ground looks like to people with other graphics cards. I'd post a pic now, but I'm not at my house. I'll post one later, BUT that doesn't mean you can't post yours until then.

Looks like green-gray mush no matter what. Blurry and icky. GeForce2MX. Stupid card. Muttergrumble.

same here, gray and bland looking. I would like to see a lush green look at least, maybe even some deserty looking areas, swamplands, etc etc. Maybe that's asking too much but I see it on other online games and it enhances the look and appeal of the game. Also foresty looking trees, Mountains with snow on the peak, evergreen trees, sandy looking beaches, all this can be achieved by slapping a texture onto a prim, I realize that, but the land is bumpy and 3-d just like the avatar, it would look better and more real to have it conform to the size and shape of the land, and mountains not just be a flat prim with no curves and features.

If you're close enough to the ground, such as walking on it, it looks pretty cool. There's actual grass, and the brown areas look like lakebed, grainy mud with little cracks in it. This is on an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000.

On my laptop, I get the grey ugly mess. On my PC, however, with my new GeForce FX 5600 w/256mb, I get THIS.

If I had known I could see those ground textures, I would have bought something besides MX lol. I went with my friend to buy graphics cards for our old computers and we both decided on the same one. He pulled one off and I pulled off the one behind. We ended up with identical boxes, different cards Not sure whether to blame my eyes for not seeing the tiny part on the top that told me what model graphics card or the store for putting them in the same place. I wonder if I was ripped off too.... Should the TIs and MXs cost the same? I'll stop talking now

Yep, Ama, that's pretty much what I see. I never knew it COULD look as good as it does on James comp... I knew it was better... but... Oh, and the pic idea was the initial topic of the thread...I just don't seperate ideas well.

I get texture that's a little better than Ama's, but not by much. Not sure exactly what the graphics card is, a GeForce something or other.
