Umm, does this mean they are easing up on minors who sneak in or am I wrong?

I suspect it's just a CYA clause because, try as they might, there is no way in hell that Linden Labs can guarantee that the person behind the keyboard is over 18 years of age. This way they have something legalish to point to the first time some bonehead tries to sue them because their 15 year old "tyke" saw a picture of a naked man in world.

Tralos, you silly man. You know full well that naked men aren't scary -- but, seeing a Bob the Builder avie having sex with a Devil avie could cause permanent psychosis. LOL

IMO, that particular clause should be preceded by something like:

"Linden Labs is a mature community intended for an audience that is age 18 or over. Linden Labs does not condone minor access into the playing grid. However, Linden cannot absolutely control..."

I don't think there is any fail-safe method of preventing a minor's access into SL.

We all know that the proposed first part is true, and it's a company policy, so IANAL but I'd guess that as a general policy/opinion it has no place in a legal document.

As Tralos says, it has to be a Cover Your Arse clause. There are a lot of things in there that would make people double-take (every online world I've ever come across has also had the legal equivalent of "we reserve the right to ban anyone we feel we need to for any reason we see fit"... every now and again there's always a thread saying "eek, they can ban anyone at any time! It's a conspiracy!"

Well, according to that, minors are now allowed in SL, but LL is not responsible for anything they see.

Which is what it should have been from the beginning.
