profits??? my experience has been losses with a TOS that promises you nothing

thursday I lost a newly purchased 16k slingo game

still NO REPLY FROM SUPPORT

I estimate I have lost 25k in inventory items over the last few updates

add that to an $84 tier and $650 land purchase

are you listening New York TImes ????????

You got an answer and Robin says LL is looking into it.

In the future, you may want to exercise a little more tact when approaching LL with your problems. You seem to come off quite petulantly. Just some friendly advice.

Usually the forum trolls, troll on other people's post. Funny to see one start a thread like this. No offense, if blasting the game we all play and love isn't trolling, I don't know what is.

I beleive it's just frustration.
Inventory loss can be EXTREMELY frustrating.
Lack of Linden response can magnify the perception of your problem 10 fold.

I don't know what steps the poster took prior to posting here, I would assume at least several emails / IM's / bug reports. I know, it just happened 2 days ago, when your inventory *poofs* that seems like a long time. Especially since you realize nothing will happen over the weekend. It will likely be 5-7 days after the incident before LL even starts to look into this.

Good luck cloudy, let us all know how it turns out.
In the mean time, I suspect there may be a Tringo or two you can attend until you get your's back. ;)

yes I became petulant good word

its best to calm down before writing and I already knew this-

but when I read articles like that NYT I just felt more duped and stupid

after spending 3 months in the sand box I wanted a place to call home with enough prims to entertain myself so I invested RL money not for profit....for entertainment

I mean if I paid a website provider 84$ a month and I lost content on their servers...

they would help me with backups and certainly respond to my email or certainly face losing my account and they would probably do this whether it was the weekend or not

LL is unique in that it is the only 3D platform of its kind I cant go play somewhere else
so yes I do feel frustrated and no I dont troll.... Im really usually pretty nice

I'm just very disapointed

Sorry to hear about your plight, I do understand your frustration, and I hope that LL can fix it for you soon.

The same thing would happen in TSO, with things poofing, or people not even getting what they were supposed to get in the first place.

What NYT doesn't state is how ephermeral everything is in an online game. And there's no insurance! If a fire gets your warehouse irl, you at least get reimbursed. But not all games will replace your items; TSO didn't, and I get the idea that SL doesn't often either. (TSO did give a special item once, though, to a bunch of people who all lost their houses and lots all of a sudden.)

So I decided early on that I'd better not get too attached to ANYTHING. I had to think, well, let's say my entire character and all her money and everything got deleted (which seemed to happen in TSO quite a bit through the action of hackers, as opposed to items that was lost due to the game's fault), would I still want to play? Cause it sure was a play-breaker for a lot of people.

I've developed this kind of distance from all my game characters and their things. So that if, for instance, I lost everything I had in SL, I would still be willing to play and have fun. Easier said than done, though, considering this hasn't ever happened to me. I hope you get your items back.

Cloudy, just curious but have you checked with the person you bought the slingo game from to see if they're willing to give you a replacement? You bought something to use and now can't through no fault of your own and it wouldn't cost the seller anything to help you out unless you bought it second hand. Doesn't solve the problem of your inventory poofing but it might get you up and running :)

I know either Dominus Skye or Sparkle Skye would be glad to hear you out and try to help you with the Slingo problem. I've found that most of the time that is the best way to deal with lost inventory as LL can't usually reimburse you. :D

We're all prone to blame the asset server and buggy software for this problem, but should we not entertain the possibility that this is a sign from a wrathful god who has grown tired of Tringo, Slingo and all the other -ingos?
