Does anyone know a way to make money? For 2 weeks I was without any money, so I did not play. I ended up removing everything I owned except the land and now I am starting over with L$3000. I don't want to build and end up with nothing again. Any tips? and I have tried selling items in the shops, no go.

Also I would like to place items in the shop to sell but I don't have the money to place them there. I was told I could create a box and place the items in the "Contents" but no picture shows up. Could someone explain the correct way to do this?

Finally Where do I get a "voting terminal"?

Take a screen shot of the object you want to put in the box.

Then texture the box with the screen shot. If you need help get me inworld I'll help ya out.

You can buy a voting terminal outside of Avatar Central (you should have a landmark, it's nearish the welcome area). Or just ask someone that has one for a copy.

As for actually making money, as in real life, you can't go wrong with a cushy government job.

The Lindens are trying to get things rolling and thus are handing out lots of money for organizing games, contests and events. Most of these events have cash prizes for winners, and sometimes just for showing up.

It looks like there's also mad money to be made working on the new Wild West area, check out the post in the new Civic Projects forum. It looks like there will be low-paying "heavy-lifting" jobs there, so even if you're new, you should be able to get something.

As a last resort, you could try working for it (I haven't become this desperate yet), find something you're good at that people want, and charge for it.
