I just signed up and downloaded SL earlier today, and apparently I have to wait till tommorow before I can play or something. All I get is "your on the list, try back 05-02-2003".
Does this mean it will be active tommorow?

Also a couple more questions.
Is there any land left?
Is it possible to make buildings underground?
Is there any good tutorials or websites on what to do/how to make things other than the ones on the main page?

i dunno, i've never seen that message. usually when you try to log in before or after the login window, it will tell you the servers are closed, and give you an hour range for when you can try again. maybe your account is being processed, and hasn't been activated on the game servers yet. best i can suggest is to give it a try again tomorrow after noon PST :p

yes there's land left. you can either buy your own land, or you can rent land or apartments from others. if you plan on building a large store or house, you're probably better off buying your own land though.

as of yet, it's not possible to build underground. you used to be able to terraform the land, and dig chasms, where you could build "underground" and put a false cover over it, but now the terraforming tools have been limited to 45° angles.

for other web sites, i know they're out there, but i don't know any off the top of my head... i'm sure other SL residents can make good recommendations :) also, in-game tutorials are held on a regular basis, check the events calendar.

Linden is only letting in a limited number each day so those that sign up and can't get in on one day, get top priority the following day.

I sort of figured it was something like that, but I got a e-mail this morning saying that my account is now enabled. Can't wait to log in.

Keep looking, the world is large. Use your map to make sure your not going in circles. A lot of land was recently released from inactive beta accounts, and stuff Lindens had hold of. Natoma has land but is a bit laggy (not as bad as it was) and quite a few sims around there have some land.

also consult the world map (under the help menu -- you can resize it if you can't read the text on it) and your current location, shown in the bottom left corner above the "say" button...

<plug style="shameless">if all else fails and you can't find any usable land that suits you, i invite you to look into the Kissling Island Community... if you're interested in building a relatively normal-looking modern building, we are starting to lease land... if you just want a place to call "home", there will soon be apartments you can lease even cheaper.</plug>
