This post was inspired by another post from Rake on Aimee being a celebrity. Thinking about this few ideas occured to me that could be fun and potentially create new SL jobs, provided they don't contradict with TOS (which would be a slippery slope). But anyhow it's discussion forum so:
1. Public relations companies or jobs: the purpose of these people are to promote the image of a celebrity or initiate campaigns to create a celebrity.
2. Paparazzi: this is self-explanatory. You follow celebreties and take screen shots and make up stories about them. You may risk getting banned though, if you pass the lines.
3. Gossip magazines: akin to People magazine. You hire reporters or buy the screen shots from paparazzi. Create a subscription service for those who love this stuff.

1. Could be viable in some cases. But, how would it be decided who was to be a celebrity or not? 2. This would annoy the piss out of most people especially if they are content creators. Knowing that clothing/skin designers etc. spend alot of time AFK or in their own world, would the public be interested in lots of pix afk AVs? This would only not be annoying if someone were to fill the roll of the Paris Hilton of SL, i.e. being famous for no particular reason. Then in that case this idea would probably work. 3. They already exist.
