If there are any terribly clever souls out there that have a "Dummies Guide to Alpha Channels in Paint Shop Pro" link or tutorial that they could point me to, I would be eternally greatful.

I really REALLY want to design things, but without the know-how or even an idea of where to properly start my search on the web, I keep hitting brick walls.

And ouch. It hurts.

here is a webpage that has a great psp tutorial. Unfortunately it is #! and since she is moving, the page is not up... so it is a bit of a teaser for me to post it. The good thing is that she will be up and running soon enough, and then you will have just the tutorial you were looking for.

I actually had a conversation last night about giving a class on Alpha Channels; the conversation went like this...

Q: How'd you do that fireplace?

A: It's a <blahblah> with an alpha channel so you can see through pieces of it, then I <blahblah> and voila, burning log with "glowing" embers.

Q: Wtf did you just say?

A: I'm not really sure I wasn't paying attention, try Ctl H. I like cheese though.

Q: Maybe you should give a class.

A: I don't know if the Lindens would pay me to give a class on cheese.

Q: No on Alpha channels you dope.

A: Ah yes, so we can make swiss cheese!

It would be short; they're not very hard once you know exactly what they are and are supposed to do. Using them to mask out areas around complex figures is more a matter of being ace with your color range and area selection tools.

I'll submit the event idea and see what happens. It would be a little tricky since you would have to work with the game and Photoshop/PaintShop at the same time. Hmm we'll see.

Back to work now cya online :)

<laughs> Oh Tcoz.. I will go to your class but only if it involves gouda.

Seriously though, like I said on the projects forum, I would love to participate in a class or view a tutorial or ANYTHING.

And Nada, yer MEAN! ;D

A lesson on alpha channels could be good. My current 3 step method is something like this:

1: play with photoshop for 3 to 5 hours

2: get online

3: find someone to make the texture I want.

I'm sure there is a method that is less time consuming, but I havn't mastered it yet.

And okay Tracey, Nada.. I have to see him first to make that call though!
