Pen, it's usable for me. Just make sure to remove any high-prim attachments if you need to teleport. That was causing failures for me earlier.

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

Ok. That isn't hard for me then. My only attachments are the glasses I wear that Cienna Rand made, and my one prim FIC badge. hehe.. But I may wait to log on anyway. If things are really bad, they may bring down the servers in a bit. Or the world could crash. And I don't want to get on, get naked, and wake up in Ahern like that AGAIN. :o

Hmmm
When I get in I guess I won't try to drive the Prim Reaper into the WA to show off, then.

A theory:

Asset server is buckling under the load of several thousand new avatars a day.

Since the free trial opened up, there have been about 6,000 new accounts. I imagine that's a lot of backend busywork (cloning inventories, setting up links, all that jazz).

In other words, we've slammed into another bottleneck.

Cheers to SL popularity!

Hmmm. Just what kind of hardware are the asset servers running on?
And is there a possible upgrade option?

I think its closer to 3,000 free accounts so far. But even so, it can't help, especially since they can't really do anything except teleport around. (oops)

Boy, its a good thing nobody is smart enough to use this to set up alts. If the whole world wasn't made up of idiots, some of them would be using this to game the system.

But that's OK. Sometimes its more important to placate your backers by maintaining the appearance of membership growth than it is to protected your business. That's understandable, right?

I propose we call it the "crashet" server. It's in the middle rack, right between the log-in-prevention firewall and the email accumulation server.

Okay Buster, anything to support this notion, or did I miss a smiley? Only thing I've seen is LL promo verbage and people pointing out same. You make it out as a desperation move -- I'm willing to be convinced if you've got something to back it up... If not, no big deal. I'm just curious.

I get roughly 2000. How do you get 6000?

Anyone else having problems selecting, editing and shift_copying objects?

I had to relog at least 3 times before I gave up and mostly just watched others build.

I also had a friend who couldn't offer me a t leport or accept my teleport.

I assume all of these problems are related to the asset server. Is it possible my assumption is correct?
