Hi, having a great time so far. Two qustions for the builing experts:

1.) If I want two of the same items that I built, is there a way to duplicate them or do I have to start from scratch on the second one?

2.) I tried painting part of an assembly and the whole thing got painted. I know I'm a sloppy painter but I usually don't spill that much..he he! I unlinked the part, painted it and linked it back together. Is there an easier way?

Thanks ahead for your answers. Everyone has been a great help to me and that's what makes the whole game so much fun!!!
Just can't find many answers to my questions in any helpfile that I have.:p

(Not a building expert but...)

First give the item a name in the "General" tab of the edit window.

Then right click on the object, choose "Aquire" then "Take Copy". The object will appear in your inventory. Click on the item in you inventory and drag it on to the ground. Voila!

Near the top-right of the edit window are a bunch of radio buttons, choose "select individual", then you can work on one bit of the linked object.

If you want to work on one face of one bit of the linked object, choose "select texture"

Good luck, have fun.

I'm not an expert either, but:

Right click on object, click Edit, press Ctrl + D

For more than one object:
Right click on object 1, click Edit
Hold down Shift
Right click on next object, click Edit
All subsequent objects:
Hold down Shift
Right click on next object, click Edit
When all objects you want to duplicate are selected, press Ctrl + D

If it is all linked as one object....

Open the editor, select postition... then hold the shift key (sometimes i have to press one\ce then hold on second press) then while holding the shift key click and drag one of the colored directional arrows. This will only work if when you click the colored arrows and they turn yellow as you go to drag it.

Since the copying has been covered..

if you want to paint a linked object, open the edit window (ctrl-3) and select the option "select individual". Then when you click on a part of the linked object, you only select that one piece.

You cant move it or resize it, but you can texture it and adjust the texture/color controls. that's the easist way I know to multi-color a linked object.

you can also do the exact same to each face of each object by selecting <select texture>
