So, old account builds... could we get some deleted?

So let's say I have land next to a rather, er, ugly kiosk, advertising an annoying product. And let's also say that the person in question is no longer with us in Second Life (their name doesn't come up on searches, so I imagine his account is deleted). How exactly can we go about getting rid of eyesores that belong to people that don't exist anymore? I mean, surely there's quite a few builds out there that are just aesthetically unpleasing that would be better off removed from the world. This has several benefits to the world at large: 1) Opens up more land so you land-hungry citizens can actually build something. 2) Cleans up the landscape up somewhat (removing halfbuilt items, ugly kiosks, etc.) So, who's with me? Yes, definately, especially in M zones where land and prims are precious.

You have to wait 60 days from the date the account expired. If the person had a 3 month account, and left the first month, you will be waiting awhile.

So I am guessing that this means that if someone paid for a lifetime account and then they decided not to play anymore without canceling their account, the eyesores will stay there a lifetime. Maybe people should inform LL when they are never coming back, that way the appropriate actions can be taken. Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I think there is some bug with the cleanup, this UFO near the boardwalk belongs to a guy who seems to have only been in the game like once, lol, no ratings, and its been there since beta!

I am going to cry when that UFO and submarine disappear, lol. My first day in Beta, I sat in that UFO about 30 minutes, just wondering what I was doing in SL. Its sort of comforting in a way to see it these days.
I do think players should respect others if they plan on an extended absence, but I dont think it should be mandatory. I think it would have to be an extreme case to remove objects from an "active" player just because they are not actively participating, and they should receive a nice cash advance for the inconvience they discover upon return.

I vote that any trial account that is not registered at the end of the trial period have all land/objects released to public. I can see leaving the registered account property alone in case the person decides to come back within 60 days.

Want a good reason why? Come to Aqua and see the 3 story rotating red sphere spouting snowflakes. Oh, did I mention that the sphere is for sale for $500? Any takers?

Removing builds from the land could just be putting the builds in the account's inventory... group it all up and shove it in their objects folder. Then they don't lose it, and we don't have to bother with it. I'm not saying ALL inactive builds get removed... just the ugly ones. What's an ugly one? The clock tower in Tan is NOT ugly. The floating, half-finished library in Slate IS ugly. Basically stuff that no one would want next door LF

<sarcasm>And there shouldn't be any problem getting a consensus on what is "ugly"</sarcasm>

Unfortunately, it will be hard for people to agree on what is ugly and what isn't. I think that LL should contact inactive members and offer them the chance to either keep their accounts or cancel them. Email is an effective way to do so. Then if after a period of time the member doesn't respond, then their builds can be deleted (this should also be stated in the email, to avoid any accidental deletes).

Unfortunately Lordfly..ugly is in the eye of the beholder and even if we all agree thats something is ugly ..its owner still has the right to say ....isnt this cool ? Its a shame we have inactive half done structures about to constantly look at ....but then again some may look at our "finished" stuff and say to themselves damm thats ugly........so i guess as in any world there are unpleasantries to view.....we just have to not stare too long at them.

The submarine and UFO in Clara? Varney? is owned by Lorenzo Lorentz. Think thats the name. I suspect that this is a Linden owned player character, who just doesn't play anymore, or doesn't have the time. Why would I think this? Because the land that is under these objects is owned by Mister Lorentz, whereas before the sale of the boardwalk it was owned by a Linden.
