What software to stream audio?

Hiya. I searched for this but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

I'd like the ability to stream audio into my land from time to time. What is the standard commercial software most people in SL use to do this? I'm itching to and I can't find the answer! I apologize if this is the wrong forum.

Please lemme know! Thanks.

I believe one is Winamp, but I think you can get it for free. Thats the one I've heard most about.

Thanks for the reply but I was wondering:

Is it possible to stream from my PC and just get my land to stream it?

Is it possible to NOT have to go through a 3rd party to stream my own audio?

Thanks

Most people use Shoutcast to stream audio. It has two components. A server application and a broadcasting plugin for Winamp. You can run both along with SL on the same machine, but unless you have oodles of ram and a very good broadband connection (particularly upstream bandwidth) you'll need to keep the bitrate low and limit the number of connections. When I was running shoutacst on the same machine as SL (with 512mb ram) I limited the connections to 10 at 48kb/s, and that was pushing it.
