...........I can't be-LEEE-ve I missed that thread when it was open. Never before have I sat down and read an entire 17 page thread end to end. It was amazing. Simply gob-smacking, the trainwreck that unfolded over those seventeen pages.

Here's the thing: Nobody invests, because there's no built-in way to enforce a contract. 10k isn't a huge sum, but serious-minded investor is going to want a look at your business plan (and since we're talking about malls, your marketing plan, your retention plan, and your traffic model), then if that's in order, write up a document outlining how the L$10,000 comes back /off the top/ before anything with the possible exception of rent PLUS the 75% of profits, sent by FedEx to be signed and notarized, and returned. Granted, nobody is going to litigate over about $30, but this is how you secure an investment, by bringing it into the real world (and people do, if the stakes are high enough: I know a dev team for an in-world product under formal NDA). I'm not sure anybody would just give you L$10,000, because there's nothing to say you're just going to DK the person when it's time to repay. Could be 'Hi I need L$11 for an upload please' on a grand scale, you know?

I have land I'm trying to sell that you can rent at a reasonable markup, but that's about all anybody is going to be willing to spot you. Also I can tell you ALL about running a mall. Tanking three of the bally things gives you remarkable insight into their workings.

Generally hotels fail inworld, why would people pay for things when they can find places for free. the best you will get is a theme hotel, and even at that, it better be something really amazing to last at all. And malls, they once were viable, I threw up one Nov1st for Christmas, and it was cheap, like 25% of my land fees, and over the past month, 1 renter, so when tier rolled back around, I decided to trash the idea and skip paying more tier.

Not to be a "Negative Nancy" here, but those ideas are not going to make anyone a lot of cash. You need to hit onto a market that is untapped. Which is the real challenge in SL.

Yas, malls take awhile, and are mostly empty. But it's fun to watcg firefighters posts none the less. I see a blank website with absolutely no content, an offer to build a yacht as his first custom build, for cheap. him being a model and searching for an advertising agent, and i thing i rermember one about him asking for business ideas, and others. quite amusing. throw enough of it at the wall and some of it has to stick sometime i guess.
