U M A G A Z I N E
Founders/CEOs: Lindsay Stratten and Kendall Freenote
Magazine Concept:
U Magazine will be a lifestyle magazine for the artistic and fashion concious of Second Life. It will focus mainly on high fashion in SL, but also the hipster music and art scene. The magazine will be balanced with editorial photoshoots, professional articles, and comedic columnists. When we do covers we would like to feature different models, celebrities, and artists in Second Life. One added thing that most magazines don't have, is a famous spokesperson. We will try and hire someone well known in the general SL community and fashion community. In every issue we will be doing a special section that is based of off different themes and how to dress according to that theme, such as taking style from Madonna or Breakfast at Tiffany's. The magazine will have a lot of characterisics of RL magazines' Elle and Harper's Bazaar. For each issue we would like to put out at least 50 pages to give our readers a wide variety of reading material.
Staff Positions:
Lindsay Stratten will be taking the Editor in Chief, Kendall Freenote will also be taking Editor In Chief position. We will both share the title, Lindsay dealing mainly dealing with business and Kendall mainly dealing with the editorial aspect. We would like to hire staff for several positions: Creative Director, Fashion Editor, Music Editor, Art Editor, Head Photographer, Secondary Photographer, PR Director, Marketing Director, and Blog Director. We will be hiring freelance writers, stylists, and bloggers because we believe that everyone in SL should have a chance to contribute. All of the positions will be hired according to importance first, all of these positions are just what we plan on having in our full staff in the future.
Starting Plan:
Basically we both are broke and have very little money to put into this to start, which is bad for starting any business, so we figured that we would try to find some investors who can help us with funding and they would be able to have special roles and perks at the magazine. We also plan on setting up a headquarters sooner rather than later. I have all the buildings and furniture. We may need to buy some furniture, but not much, and we will just need to find land. Before we begin all of the building and such, we will try to find investors and staff so that we are not wasting ours (or anyone else's) money on tier for a place not being used. We will have a publisher who is willing to do our layouts, print out the magazine, and help us produce it.
Please contact Lindsay Stratten in-world if you have any questions, comments, or you would like to possibly invest with us. We have many more details that have not been included here, but we would like to discuss personally with interested professionals. Thank you for you time and hopefully a few of you will be interested!
