I’ve been a member of a couple of different MMOs for several years. My experiences have become the inspiration for a research project that I need to complete for school. Who knew homework could be fun? ;)

As part of my graduate degree in Library and Information Studies, I need to write a research paper, and I’ve chosen to study the social interactions of groups within MMOs. I am asking for volunteers to complete a survey about their experiences in virtual worlds/MMOs so that I can compare the results to the real world.

If you are 18 years or older and have been a member of an MMO for more than 3 months, please take a moment to complete the survey: http://sites.google.com/site/socialcapitalofmmos/

Thanks for your time.

Well, that was a little different than most of the surveys that run through here. I actually thought it was fairly well done, though some of the terms (raiding parties, etc) had to be modified to apply to SL.

And wow, an actual disclosure at the front - nice.

:( Now I feel a little down, though. I hadn't realized quite how out-of-touch I'd gotten in RL...

Thanks for the response! I do realize the questions are more suited for gaming worlds. That is mostly due to my inexperience in social worlds like Second Life. I've only dabbled here a bit myself. But I wanted to include SL and others like it to see how much of a difference there is, if any.

Sorry for making you feel down. Don't be too depressed by it - you may not be that different from the rest of the country judging by the national survey results I'll be using for comparison. Hopefully, you can use this as inspiration instead - go email/call someone you haven't spoken to in a while. =)
