Organization of the Princely Household of Savoy-Faucigny
The Stewardship – Office responsible for the domestic affairs of the household. The Grand Steward is head of the office.
• The Venery – responsible for coordinating the Princess’s hunting parties.
o Master of the Hunt – Responsible for coordinating hunting on horseback and hunting wolves.
o Grand Falconer – Responsible for coordinating falcon hunting.
o Captain of the Hunt – Responsible for coordinating boar hunts.
• The Butlery – Headed by the Chief Butler, this office oversees the table arrangements and meals at banquets
o Breadmaster – oversees the bread served at parties.
o Winemaster – oversees the wine served at parties
o Grand Carver – cuts the meat served at parties.
The Marshalsea – Once the military branch, it is now responsible for security and ceremonial bodyguard service for the Princess. The Grand Marshal is head of the Marshalsea.
• The Faucigny Household Cavalry – the ceremonial army of Savoy-Faucigny The Colonel General is charged with leading the regiment.
o Bodyguards (4) – headed by the Captain
o Light Cavalry (4) – headed by the Captain-Lieutenant
o Musketeers (3) – headed by the Captain-Lieutenant
• The Grand Stables – responsible for the transportation of the Princess and the ceremonial entourage (heralds, men of arms, musicians, etc.). This office is charged to the Grand Squire
• The Lesser Stables – responsible for overseeing the squires, pages, foot valet, coaches & coachmen. The Premier Squire is head of this office.
• The Royal Lodges – oversees the lodging of the Princess, the court and the household. The Marshal of Lodging is also responsible for assisting in the coordination of the Princess’s security.
The Princess’s Chamber – Headed by the Grand Chamberlain, the office oversees the Princess and her personal entourage.
• Ladies of the Chamber (4) – Noblewomen who attend the Princess.
• Valets of the Chamber (4) – Noblemen who attend the Princess.
• Pages (5) – Non-noble men and women who attend the Princess.
• Mistress of the Robes – Oversees the Princess’s wardrobe; also holds the distinction of being a chief lady-in-waiting.
The Office of Theater & Plays– Office responsible for the theater & plays, including décor, costumes and props, ballets and court entertainment. The Superintendent of Theater & Plays is head of this office.
The Office of Ceremonies – Office charged for all court functions & ceremonies, and protocol. Such oversight includes: baptisms, marriages, funerals, festivals, ambassadorial receptions, and privy council meetings. The office is charged to the Grand Master of Ceremonies, Master of Ceremonies and Aide of Ceremonies.
• Equerry – Person entrusted by the Princess to ensure that all protocol is respected.
The Chaplain of Savoy – The spiritual arm of the Princely Household. The Grand Almoner of Savoy is responsible for this office.
• First Almoner – responsible for public charity.
• Master of Music – oversees the coordination of music the household’s entertainment.
The Savoy Council
Delegated to the financial management of the Princely Household. It is headed by the Lord Chief Counselor, appointed by the Princess, and consist of the heads of each office, and 5 individuals specially appointed by the Princess.
