That's interesting, BUT-why do you charge different rates for "RL" translations? I use the same skills as with SL translations in RL, and the quality of my translations is the same. Why devalue something like that?

Why devalue something like that? (I'm a RL translator) Hi, good point. We think that it would not be fair to translate a RL document getting paid as it was a SL notecard. It would not be fair for our translators, and for the market in general. That would be a very bad behavior towards our collegues, and all other professionals who work in RL. We simply consider SL as a different entity, with different rules, different market, different needs, and different fees. We do put the same effort on any kind of translation, therefore our concern is not the quality, which is our main goal, and it is guaranteed by professionals. Please note that we also offer the opportunity to get a refund. The main point is that there is a market out there, and since we are part of it, we follow the rules. If you apply the same rate for RL and SL translations, you are a potentially dangerous element for the market in general, and you should probably reconsider your position. Best regards, |

I'm not sure whether you are aware(or I am simply mistaken), but I believe that LL considers using sl at the begining of your website a copyright infringement.
Please correct me if I am wrong. Please see the SL Corporate TOS and have a look at 4.4 4.4 Without a written license agreement, Linden Lab does not authorize you to make any use of its trademarks. You agree to review and adhere to the guidelines on using "Second Life," "SL," "Linden," the Eye-in-Hand logo, and Linden Lab's other trademarks, service marks, trade names, logos, domain names, taglines, and trade dress (collectively, the "Linden Lab Marks"  at http://secondlife.com/corporate/brand and its subpages, which may be updated from time to time. Except for the licenses expressly granted there or in a separate written agreement signed by you and Linden Lab, Linden Lab reserves all right, title, and interest in the Linden Lab Marks and does not authorize you to display or use any Linden Lab Mark in any manner whatsoever. If you have a written license agreement with Linden Lab to use a Linden Lab Mark, your use shall comply strictly with that agreement's terms and conditions and use guidelines. I believe it's allowable if the "SL" is followed by two nouns, as in SL Translation Services.
