Looking for a business partner

Title says it all. I need a business partner that is trustworthy, has a vivid imagination and wants to create a business.

You might want to give a few details -- the title doesn't say it all. In fact, the whole post says nothing -- you might generate some interest and filter your results better if you tell folks what you want to do.

It's almost like saying... "I want someone that has an idea about what to create to make money with, can make it, has the time and is willing to market and sell it, and has the money to market it and purchase or rent a location to sell it in. I am willing to sit back and collect my 50% of the deal."

no, not really actually what i mean by this post is that i am looking for a business partner that is willing to do 40% of the work

Yeah that's all I mean man. Whet the appetite here is all I am saying. I do partnering co-branding stuff all the time -- I know what you are proposing there. But I build shoes, market my gift card system, and make some novelty items -- I don't build buildings and couldn't animate my way out of a paper bag. Let the folks with the strengths you are looking for filter themselves in or out -- there is always someone. But ya gotta give a little more or most people will look at this post and move on.

Like me.. I'd love to have a business partner. Heck, I'd do 60% of the work if it was interesting enough I build, make poses (will try animations once I'm done building these rooms) and am willing to try most other things. But without knowing what you're looking to do, I can't really say if I'd be interested or not.

Ugh well I have an idea and small idea of how much i'm going to spend on this idea. I would like to go into auctioning but I don't really know you lot here so i won't go into that much detail about it. I am going to spend around 150,000 linden on advertising this Idea and by the first i am aiming to have made 10,000$ (USD)
Well I am looking for people with some experience in being able to manage a business and finance as well as that I need someone that is very good with people and someone who is really willing to put some effort into this. I only really want someone with skills in business not building or scripting(but would be nice) and someone who can speak other languages.

I would be glad to impart any knowledge that I can lend for free if that helps you. I don't have the time to devote to a partnership of that sort. I have done pretty decent with growing my business from the marketing end -- and while it works for me, it may not work for you -- but knowledge is power.

i am always looking for someone to go into business with and also willing to put forth Lindens when it is needed, but when someone says they dont know everyone well enough in a forum that they are looking for a business partner in then it makes me wonder how much they will share once they do meet someone they obviously dont know since they are in here looking instead of asking a friend they do know. i dont think it is someone that i would want to be partners with if they dont feel right talking to people in the first place. first thing i read when i see this is scam and pay me your money so i can succeed.

And, yes Vlad, there is a way to Copyright certain things.. But to do it on a game? Unless you have a good sized RL business I wouldn't dare attempt it on here. Odds are someone already has it, anyway.

I didn't say anything about lending me money, it will all be funded by my money i just need someone who can help me work on my idea

your asking for the world but people can`t do everything, you need to give out more general info so that the right people who are good at what you need to have done read and reply/contact ingame if they are interested

First off, patents are required in each country and there is no such thing as a universal patent. My father has a patented work flow in Canada and the US. A patent will run for 20 years in Canada and costs $650.00 Canadian per country you want the patent in and there are maintenance fees, so no... patents are not usually seen in SL. The reason for this is that SL is worldwide and although you may patent your invention in the US (or where ever you are) I can still copy it and patent the invention here in Canada. The guidelines require this to be an invention not an idea by the way. Oh, and a special twist for Canadians (not sure about other countries) is that if you have collected money for your invention (ie sold an out-come of the product), you are no longer eligible to patent the product. It becomes public domain.

Copyrighting is different. From a legal perspective, copyright is one of many mechanisms for protecting products of mental creation, which are collectively known as "intellectual property". Only the expression of an idea can copyrighted. The underlying idea itself remains in the public domain. Simplified, this means, for example, the general plot of a book in the writer's head could not be copyrighted, but the manuscript incorporating the plot could. There is a famous case where a relatively unknown person in the boxing circles claimed that the ROCKY movie was based on his 1st round knock down of Ali. BTW, the boxer lost the case and also the 15 round decision to Ali! Interesting that Rocky also lost the decision to Apollo but won the court case. The claim is not to ideas, but to their precise and permanent expression. This may be a problem for you since an auction is not a unique and creative idea.

I should mention that Copyright arises automatically upon creation, provided the work meets the minimum criteria for copyright protection. A Copyright must fit into one of the four major categories of works in the Copyright Act, namely literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works. Again, an auction does not sound like it fits into any of these categories.

OK, with all that said you got me interested in what your proposing and would need more information. As someone mentioned, tell me in private is no different than tell me in public since, if your idea is copyright protected, mentioning it here would protect you. The only reason I can think of, to not mention it, is that you want to get a jump and establish yourself as the original and first to produce the product. In which case, you would need to do this on your own as telling it to anyone changes your odds. However, the next person may make it better only after a few short months if he assembles a team. Its a gamble either way.

your making it difficult for your self as what info is needed to attract the right kind of people without making the idea public has been pointed out several times by now

Hey milkie... it's going to be tough to get someone to accept a business partner that is so paranoid they won't outline what they want.

I imagine you are afraid someone will steal your idea if you post it here. Well, think of these points:

* You have posted it here with a date, so everyone in the forums will know when you thought of the idea

* If you don't post here, someone could offer to be your business partner, let you outline the idea to them and still run off and steal it.

* Once you open, someone could still take your idea and copy it.

* Someone is already working on a similar idea and what you do has no affect on their business model.

.... or you could start small... get to know people.... network alittle.... then you'll naturally gain people you trust and can find an appropriate candidate that route. Just a suggestion, but that's how I'd do it. I don't think I'd hunt for a business partner from strangers on the forums. It would have to be someone I know and trust.
