"canvass sims with notecards" if this is what i have been experiencing of late i would call it spamming. In a few places i hang at of late i get notecards tossed at me and LM none of the ppl have spoken to me and asked if i am interested.

Well, those people aren't canvassing correctly. None of my canvassers would be allowed to just fling notecards at people. I believe in the importance of a friendly introduction.

I feel thought having some one come up to me in a mall and tell me about a shop in another mall is wrong. Those who have done this to me have blown any chance of me going to their store.
I am of the school if i want something Ill go find it, If i see something on someone i like ill ask them where they got it from.Im the same in RL i dont buy from door to door sales men ,they dont get much past " hello may i "

i agree with windsweptgold, i own a mall but as soon as anyone passes a note card to a customer they recieve an instant and permanent BAN, followed by the owner of the group recieving the same ban and an abuse report to lindens......

i find people dont like being hastled when they are looking around shops for something special, my advice is pay for advertising in some of the great magazines that are in sl
and stop spamming :)

People in SL like opt-in deals, not opt-outs... I think any business which is using these tactics is doomed to failure, because people HATE being sold to, and they hate it particuarly in SL.

People are in SL to escape their real lives. One big irritant in RL is the constant bombardment of unwanted information. I think it is far more likely that someone will start a blacklist containing all the businesses your notecards name than that people visit them.

If you continue with this business model, imho you will be scamming the business owners who pay you for advertising, and spamming the rest of us.
