Greetings:

We all love to shop, and we all love to save time to shop even more. I hope this post won't be seen as an attempt to undermine how people advertise their new wares, but in the spirit that it's offered -- helpful hints for those who may be genius designers, but perhaps not as dedicated to marketing. I'm not a marketing guru, just a big time spender ;-)

I'm not sure about others, but I don't have much time to spend clicking on every single New Product listing and then deciding if I want to purchase or not. Maybe I'm unusual in my power-shop needs. LOL In any event, please take the following tips for what it's worth to you, the spectacular creators!

1. Descriptive titles -- your fashion name/brand is great, but what type of item are you selling and who does it appeal to (i.e. goth, elegant, etc.). Those titles are what makes people decide to click or not. The perfect, alluring words in the title are golden (or $Lindens)

2. Description of items -- it need not be long, but choose your words carefully. Again, who are your buyers? What are they in to? Steampunk, piracy, what? Why should I buy? Who do you appeal to?

3. Images -- unless the item is very well described, I won't go check it out in SL unless there is an image I can preview. This can be a link to a blog, site, or just the image, but please include an image. You can lose many sales without images.

4. Links -- if possible, link to your designer blog or SLExchange vendor page. One bit of interest may spark an entire shopping spree at your place!

5. Death knell of vagueness -- honestly, saying "50% off everything, just come see my store" does not inspire power shoppers to visit. What are you selling? What's your main genre/interest catering to? Please, don't be vague. Tell it like it is and you'll likely see more traffic. The lure of discounts is not enough.

6. About your offerings -- why not add a little "blurb" at the bottom of your post about your general offerings for newbies who don't know your rep and what you sell. Copy and paste is a wonderful thing... so is repetition.

In any event, I hope this is helpful, and again, I'm hoping to offer constructive criticism, not just criticism. Happy shopping, all!
