Meta Messages is an offworld, web-based messaging system that is designed to extend inworld communication for Second Life® residents.

Meta Messages allows communication without being logged into Second Life, and eliminates the need to rely on notecards, capped IM's, and missed messages, while still protecting your personal identity.

The Guest Account, while free, offers limited features. Messages can be sent, but not received. This is useful for trying the system out, or for residents that only need to send messages to someone else. A couple of examples would be customers wanting information from you when you are not online, or staff members needing to report to their manager.

Using this system is more reliable than inworld IMs since messages won't get capped, and can be checked by the recipient even when they aren't inworld.
