"It" just goes to show you that even virtual parts laying around a virtual garage can inspire one to a weekend project.

I was sorting through some of the sculpt maps that I've made for my air planes and air ships and just for the heck of it started putting parts together and before you know it I had... "It".

As you can see, "It" defies easy categorization. Part hovercraft, part Victorian parlor furniture, with machine guns thrown in just because.

At low speeds the "It" hovers just slightly off the ground. Increase the throttle past 50% and you can take to the skies. Like all my aircraft the "It" uses the standard Cubey Terra control layout.

The "It" features animated gears, propeller and rudder. The rudder is tied into the vehicle controls so it responds when you turn the "It" left and right. The propeller is also tied into the control system and spins faster as the throttle is increased. A thick cloud of particle steam trails behind, and like all MIM aitcraft the "It" has my built in Chase Camera mode.

The box contains two versions of "It". One for gracious Victorian hovering and flight, and one for gracious Victorian hovering and flight with imperialistic overtones as evidenced by the twin TCS powered Vickers machine guns mounted to the body.

More than a few people have asked why is "It" free?

Well, it's lots of fun, it really was just a quick project using existing parts - I didn't create any new sculpties or textures, the sound effects are a mix of several of the sounds from other vehicles. The only new thing I created was a driving pose for it, so my total expense in building "it" was L$10, which was more than recovered by the fun of the project.

Also - to be blatantly capitalistic, "It" does a pretty good job of letting me "strut my stuff" as it were.

But mostly it's because every now and then I'll see someone puff past in their "It" and it makes me happy. One of my best SL moments was an impromptu "It" race after the New Babbage Founders Day Airship Regatta. There were seven or eight of the silly things swarming all over the race course - some with guns blazing.

I was ecstatic :)

"It" is free to all at my shop in Caledon Loch Avie:
