Xanga.com will pay $1 million for repeatedly allowing children under 13 to sign up for the service without getting their parent's consent. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14718350/Excerpt: According to the Federal Trade Commission, children who wanted to open a Xanga account didn't even have to show that level of ingenuity. Children merely had to check a box confirming they were over 13, according to FTC lawyer Mary Engle -- even if they'd previously entered a birth date indicating they were under 13. Engle would not reveal what Xanga's explanation was for the lack of obvious fact-checking. "Suffice it to say their explanation we thought was inadequate," she said. Xanga has changed its technology to screen for appropriate birthday, Engle said, and has enhanced other mechanisms designed to keep young children off the site. The settlement terms requires that Xanga submit to monitoring by the FTC to ensure there are no future COPPA violations.

Okay, so when are the parents being fined for not paying attention to what their kids do on the computer?

Okay, so when are the parents being fined for not paying attention to what their kids do on the computer? Really, eh? The parents should just be plopping their kids in front of the TEE-vee instead.

I'm not sure. Not many Americans say "eh". I just get giggly when I see it.

my first boyfriend was from winnipeg and I visited his mom with him in Vancouver. she said "eh" after EVERYTHING whether it was applicable to a question or not.
"I'm going to the grocery store, eh? Want any soda?"
"Can you turn the TV to Big Brother, eh?"
"Damn the weather sucks, eh?"
It was funny to me, and when I pointed it out to her, she had absolutely no idea waht I was talking aboot.
