Anyone know when his next book is lol -Ayame ![]() "What are you working on now? Currently I'm writing another Robert Langdon thriller-the sequel to The Da Vinci Code. For the first time, Langdon will find himself embroiled in a mystery on U.S. soil. This new novel explores the hidden history of our nation's capital." Bleh, I read The Da Vinci Code because of all the hype and I was exteremly disappointed. The plot was extremely contrived and the characters were 2-dimensional cardboard cut-outs who simply bumbled along as a series of things happened to them. It sort of reminded me of those "choose your own adventure" books I read as a kid.

It sort of reminded me of those "choose your own adventure" books I read as a kid. It's funny how two different people can read the same book and have opposite reactions. I read the book on my hurricane imposed exile in my condo (I just finished it actually yesterday), and I can't ever remember liking a book so much. It was not so much the characters, which were secondary really - the book left me reeling thinking about the possibilities it revealed. So often I would just stop and contemplate the concepts being explored, and it left my mind reeling about so many different things. Having been raised Catholic (Venezuelan Catholic at that lol) but having long since left behind all but the obligatory holiday visits to mass, the subject matter of the book was particularly riveting to me, and made me examine many things in a different light. I look forward to reading his other works. Has anyone read Angels and Demons? _____________________

Has anyone read Angels and Demons? I have , but its been a little over a year since I've read it. It wasn't quite as thought provoking as The Da Vinci Code though. Basically its a prequel to The Da Vinci Code. It has to do with the catholic church a little while after the Pope dies and while they are choosing his replacement He also has like 2 other books as well similar to a Tom Clancy book. P.S. Welcome back to internet land Cris ![]() |

I have read it too, but also some time ago... I'm really looking forward to the movie with Tom Hanks
![]() There is one book of Dan Brown, Digital Fortress, that I didn't like as much as the others. Maybe because of a different subject and a different main character.. By the way : glad you're ok Cristiano ![]() _____________________

I look forward to reading his other works. Has anyone read Angels and Demons? Yeah, I grew up Catholic too and left the church many years ago. Most of the concepts he "revealed" in the book I had already heard of (chalice and the blade, holy blood holy grail etc) and have been pretty much debunked. So, without the ooh, aah factor I was really looking for a good story and found it lacking. I also wonder what kind of axe he had to grind with Opus Dei. Sure they're eccentric, but I highly doubt that they're the psychopaths he portrays them as. It is a quick easy read and if you're not familiar with the concepts he discusses I can see where it would be thought provoking. EDIT: I should also add that I'm a big fan of King Arthur stories, especially the very early writings. Its interesting to see how the concepts of the Grail change throughout history. _____________________

Has anyone read Angels and Demons? I agree with what Edav said, only I found *Angels & Demons* a lot more entertaining story wise than Da Vinci. I'm not too excited about the movie... I can't really buy Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. I think Clive Owen would've been a better choice. Good to see you back ![]() Leilany ![]() _____________________

Tom Hanks is gonna be Robert Langdon ??????? I'd much rather have Viggo Mortensen....oooh he's lush!!!! ![]() Yup, that's what I read. And Sophie Dahl is going to be the girl... can't remember her name. But wasn't she italian and tan? And Sophie Dahl is so... pale and french. Oh well. Viggo is my second choice. I envision Langdon as tall, dark and handsome... not white and dorky looking like Hanks lol (I like your last name!!) Leilany ![]() _____________________
