Okay, can someone on the other side explain this to me? I do realize that my frequent disdain for the decisions of George Bush may be clouding my judgement. I'm just not sure I understand why we all still need tax cuts and at the same time we need to cut the Army Reserve during a war. Someone help me understand. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060128/ap_on_go_pr_wh/defense_budgetAre we lowering the troop level to the current level because we cannot meet the existing recruiting goals?

Good stuff. With all your troops overseas, perfect time for Canada to attack.

With Hamas officially getting its own country, this doesn't seem like a good idea. Not because of terrorism, I am not afraid of that, but of the possibility we could be dragged into another war.

With whats going on over there now they have their own problems to deal with, like the possibility of a civil war.

Perhaps it's a way for Bush to backhandedly impose the draft down the line, when more troops are needed. And then anyone that speaks out against his policies can suddenly be drafted and sent to some hell-hole overseas. Would solve two problems for him. A large supply of soldiers to further his corporate sponser's agendas, and a way of shutting up any pesky younger folk that might someday challenge his facist regime power.
Of course...that's just a theory.
Most likely it's just to make it seem like we are "winning the war on terrorism" and that soon our soldiers won't be called on to die for Haliburton..err..I mean the United States any longer.
