Whatever happened to Iomega? There was a brief firestorm of Zipology (resulting in the purchase of no less than two zip drives, one external and one internal, which is now unplugged) and then... poof.

Whatever happened to VR? Dude, that Teradactyl game SUCKED. But there it was... the future. And then... poof.

Whatever happened to good the good Star Trek writers? There were the Next Gen episodes after DS9 came out and then the DS9 episodes after Captain Janeway came out and then... poof.

Whatever happened to Micro Machines man? There was a time when adverts were a blitzkrieg of words advertising micro-sized cars and then... poof.

Dactyl Nightmare was an obsession of mine back in the day. It WAS the future as far as I was concerned. I became friendly with a guy who had just opened a VR place in a mall and he would let me hang out and play whoever walked in for free. Good times.

I had a Zip drive. It was so exciting, and personally costly for me. The click of death kind of did them in, tho. I would have gotten a Jaz drive if I could afford that, at the time. Orb drives were supposed to be the next thing but that faded out too.

Oh, the suffering caused by the Orb drive.

The one in our house was notoriously unreliable and shoddy. Years ago before we could afford the luxury of large hard drives for game playing, all I would hear was about how the [expletive deleted] Orb drive was locking up while accessing the drive during the middle of some quest/role-playing game. When the computer was upgraded, the Orb drive was removed and stomped in the alley in a family ceremony. It was quite amusing. :D

I was just happy that the random swearing was coming to an end. :)

1. Affordable CD burners killed them.

2. If we are talking about that Nintendo VR system, it deserved to die. VR systems in general tend to have health warnings that scare away the cautious.

3. Too many storylines that involved time travel and what I call "The Big Reset". Everyone dies in a big explosion, but this event sets the timeline back to "normal", and they fly off into whatever the space equivalent of a sunset is.

4. They are still out there, but now that we have tiny Reducto-friendly RC cars and XMODs, they just aren't as popular. In a related side note, I'll be glad when Christmas is over, because that whiny XMODs kid is annoying (You know how much I love cars... Pleeeze!).

Not "Micro Machines, man." "Micro Machines man!" I KNOW what happened to those little cars, everyone flushed them down the toilet or let their dogs eat them to see if their little pickups would be haulin poop on the exit side. I want to know what happened to the MAN. He rocked.

Whatever happened to Thundercats!?

He-Man got a She-Ra spinoff and was later buttwonked with 2 additional He-Man series (one featuring he man with a ponytail and the more recent one featuring toys with misshapen Rob Liefeld-like anatomy), but the Thundercats got diddly. I saw the dvd box of season 1 at Best Buy and felt strangely insulted because my childhood was being marketed back to me. I didn't feel that way about Carebears (and bought many of the small reissues), but selling me my old Thundercats seems wrong. Where are the new ones?

Mumm-Ra rocks!

And whatever happened to hyphenated heroes and villains? They used to be all the rage in the 80's and then... poof.

There should be a Space Ghost type of show starring Modulok (one of Hordak's cronies). One head could be the host and the other could be the sidekick. Damn, that was a cool toy. It was like Mr. Potatohead but not so geigh.

The first time that Chance has ever made me think of the Statler Brothers. :D

Whatever happened to Randolph Scott ridin' the range alone?
Whatever happened to Gene and Tex and Roy and Rex, the Durango Kid?
Whatever happened to Johnny Mack Brown And Alan "Rocky" Lane?
Whatever happened to Lash LaRue?
Whatever happened to Smiley Burnett Tim Holt and Gene Autry?
Whatever happened to all of these?

It spawned an entire industry of pseudoscience paranormal television programs.
