Awesome news... the more alternatives, the better. And its one that might actually get considered... our Gasman-In-Chief aught to love it, I'm sure there's alot of cowdung in Texas.

Hmm. It seems they may have a long way to go - It sounds like theyre putting more energy into extracting the gasoline then they get out of the gasoline itself.

Storing energy in a medium that every modern car can use, even at a net cost of energy, would probably be better than spending the energy required to change every car over to a different system and dispose of the current one ;)

Sounds like an expensive process. On the other hand, the source material is practically infinite. Everyone takes a dump.

And in the energy efficient world of the future there should be way less cows anyway. It is the over-reliance on cows for meat and fuel and the related environmental effects that is at the heart of many of the problems we now face.

Its the same thing with Ethanol. What you are really gaining is taking a low density energy storage material and converting it into a higher energy stoage material. Its like using a battery, you have to put more energy into making a battery than you get out of it, but what you gain is portablity.

As far as uses for cow dung...
Early european settlers on the prairie were faced with a lack of trees to use as fuel. Naturally they used what they could easily find... buffalo chips. (yes, i know Phoenix already said fire ;) )
