From: someone
Tony Alleyne, the man who turned his apartment into the Star Trek Starship Voyager has gone bankrupt. He started transforming his apartment after his wife left him when he replaced the refrigerator with a 'warp coil'. The apartment is located in Hinckley, Leics, has moulded walls, touch-panel blue lighting, and a command console. He even built a life-size model of the show's transporter room with reshaped windows to look like portholes and set up vertical lights to give the illusion of being beamed up. Tony at one time had the apartment for auction on eBay for $2 million but had no luck in selling. Tony maxed out 14 credit cards accumulating £100,000 in debt. His goal was to lure other Trekkies to pay him to convert their humble abodes.

Insane - but it does look cool.

Pretty cool. I'd rather have a Millenium Falcon or Bab 5 setup.
Hell. maybe even the Serenity.

I can understand building the Defiant in SL, that's pretty cool.

As for going broke, the franchise has kind of been in a downward spiral.

I think if Chosen was rich he might be interested.

Heck, I'd be interested in buying it myself assuming I actually had any money.
I did seriously consider putting a "jeffries tube" in my house once. :p

That looks pretty cool. I'd much rather have a functioning holodeck though.

how disapointing, from the main forum window this thread reads

"Does anyone here love Star..."

and i thought this would be a Starr Jones thread :(

His apartment looks cool, though.

If only he put some of his ingenuity into figuring out how not to go $100,000 into debt.

I wonder what nut job crap he was pulling before this that sent the 'ol lady heading for the hills?

Given current technology, I'd hazard a guess that SL is as close as we're going to get for awhile. :)

Well crap, then they'd better hurry up and figure out suspended animation so I can sleep until they get the holodecks working! :D

Starr Jones doesn't look healthy to me now. I always thought she was beautiful before.

They did say apartment, right? Apartment, as in RENTAL UNIT? He must have a very forgiving landlord.

Not all apartments are rented are they? I dunno..

Anyway, there was a guy on the new channel 4 show "Morning Glory" in the UK, who got a valuation of something similar for £800,000 ($1,393,432)..

hehe i got the action figures to - mint on card

im a fan of the show but their retirment funds - along with various other figures and annuals (beano/ dandy etc)

the only things i couldnever keep mint on card/in the packet is any computer game, system or addon

i love bits and bytes
