So, I'm watching my mate's screen as she pokes through a list of people in a group when lo and behold instead of (waiting) appearing as SL attempts to grab player names I see (hippos).

Am I going mad? Have the Hippo Gods blessed me? Will I carry to term the new incarnate of The Great Hippo so that he/she may walk the grid again!? Will my mate?

Blessye, Amber! :D

A way I've found to reproduce this more easily at times is to artificially induce HEAVY packet loss by downloading and doing lots of other things on your Net connection while on SL. Sometimes when there's a loading delay, the (hippos) will shine their curried favors on you again.

Seen it. Ben is probably grinning ear-to-ear about that little Easter Egg. :D

Just wait until the beginning of April.

He probably told Ben to put it there. :p

I saw it in passing once, twice... and then wanted to figure how to capture the magic more firmly.

I was really, really eager to see:

Anyone else remember "There is an error in Peter's Program?"

Not exactly an Easter Egg, but was fun none the less.

I wasn't there for that--what was that all about?

I do know there was a "JM" bug in one of the release notes, named after James Miller's escaping into the Linden lands.

Way back in the days when we had to ride Hippos across the Nile, and beat back the Crocs and Pharoah's soldiers on our way to school, we would sometimes get a pop up error that said "There is an error in Peter's (Linden) program". Apparently it was a joke on him by one of the other coders, that didn't get removed til after SL went "Gold". :)

Gosh, that's too rich. Times like this I wish I had a teleporter to beam me back a few years and witness the birth of Second Life.

You and me both, Torley. I shudder when I think that I wasted two years in TSO when I could have (and should have) been in SL instead.

I don't believe that obviously Photoshopped screenshot. :) Maybe it REALLY says "Walruses" or "Orangutans".
