The TV in my home office just bit the dust, and rather than buy a new one I opted to get a TV tuner card for my PC instead. I figured not only would watching TV on the computer be just plain cool, but I could also use it to clear some much needed space off my DVR by transferring my recorded shows to DVD. So, I went out and bought an ATI TV Wonder Pro card.
Here's the issue. The card itself seems to work fine, but the ATI software blows chunks. Can anyone recommend a good TV capture program?
EDIT: Here's a little more info, since I was in a rush before. When watching TV with the ATI program, audio and video are out of sync. Also the ATI TV viewer crashes constantly. When I watch TV with Winamp (Winamp TV plugin), however, everything's perfectly in sync, which is why I said the card itself works just fine. But, since Winamp is just a viewer and won't capture anything, that doesn't really help me.
I spent 90 minutes on the phone with ATI support today before the technician essentially gave up, saying "I'm gonna E-mail you some clean uninstall instructions. Try that and call back if the re-install doesn't work."
I'm pretty sure that translates to "Our software sucks and it won't work for you, but I can't say that."
So, again, anyone know of a better (hopefully free) TV tuner/capture program?

I used to have an ati all in wonder card and yeah, the software is just godawful. I remember that I've managed to make sound and video be recorded in sync (using the ati tools) by tweaking the recording settings (codec, bitrate etc). It took a while though - tennis is ideal for calibrating this (when the ball hits the ground)

Heh, you're about the 4th person I know who's had trouble with ATI's software. I'm still using my lil' USB2 device to capture off the TV. The software is ok so far... recorded 4 hours of tv, not a frame dropped! You could try SourceForge and see if there's any Open-Source Alternatives there. I found a really spiffy one for editing videos & one for making "backups" of DVDs
