For those who need to get some exercise but just can't drag themselves away from the computer:
The one above is homemade;
below is a commercial product from slimgeek.com:

Note the brakes on the keyboard support.

I'd like to be able to pivot the whole keyboard tray for use as a mouse, with the pedals for forward and back arrows.

I haven't seen my idea for the exer-mouse implemented anywhere, it would be either a really heavy mouse, like 20 pounds or so, or a mouse held by something that provides resistance.

It would be cooler if cycling generated electricity that was stored in a battery that could be used to help power the computer or run a toaster or something.

I love the concept of exertainment... I once heard this great line.

"It only takes one kid on the block to lose 50 lbs before every parent on the block has his kid playing exercise games on his playstation." - Unknown-

We have an indoor recumbent bike in front of our playstation2. I get in a half hour a day of NASCAR 2006 and a nice workout. It isn't weightlifting or anything, but it is good exercise.

Oh man, I remember AOL. I remember back when there really were hidden child pornography trading chat rooms before groups organized to bust them and I'd go in with a friend and hang around a while until someone messaged us and then we'd IM them that we were turning their names in to the government and then the room would clear out within a minute as word silently spread through IMs. Then I'd go in the "Satanic" chatrooms and pretend I was hardcore Christian and get them riled up; then I'd go into the hardcore Christian chat room and pretend I was a moderate Christian and get them all riled up.... memories. ::sigh:: I guess things really haven't changed much. ;)

Note that there is a faint green glow on the floor underneath the machine too.

Note that there is a faint green glow on the floor underneath the machine too (near the wheel).

Funny how forums seem to have outspread the chatrooms compared to the wonder of instant replies ( I don't count IRC of course) And now we get to blab and blab to make out point and wait until someone finds it to complain... not nearly as guiting as dis'ing somebody in a live chat :D...

of course, at that point on AOL, I was about 12 and too young to fully appritiate (or dispise) the AOL newsgroups... but I remeber that stupid thumbtack background they had, and also I remember playing Slingo on AOL, and Dragon Quest or something (my first text MUD) and also, I remember the Nickelodeon chatroom that NOBODY could ever get into becuase they were always full (which meant someone was getting in, but it wasnt us >.<;).

While the exercomputer engineers are hard at work helping monitor junkies stay fit, their counterparts work equally hard to deprive us of even the exercise required to sit up straight.

EasyChair Workstation

The monitor jack pictured pivots around, so the monitor could be moved over from the easychair position to be used in front of an exercise machine.

Yeah... like one is really going to get up out of the recliner to do some exercise. Sure thing.

If you had a grid on surface spun by pedal power could you put an optical mouse in the proper position and use that to detect speed and direction without doing any electronics work?
