"By mandate of the District of Columbia Precrime division, I'm placing you under arrest for the future murder of Sarah Marks and Donald Doobin that was to take place today, April 22, at oh-eight hundred hours, four minutes -- "

"Any government needs to act to protect its own people.Ask yourself the question, if you were able to detain a terrorist responsible for the deaths of thousands of people before that act took place, absolutely a government would make every effort in order to do that."

This makes total sense. Can we get this implemented in SL? Precogs for Pre-Banning. I would be happy to take charge of identifying who needs a good banning prior to them doing something stoopid. I'm totally trustworthy and unbiased.

What does that have to do with the OP's post (I have never seen Minority Report)? Unless you are saying that these 'lie detectors' are a good thing...

Well yeah you'd stop them but what do you do once you catch them? the whole point is once john anderton (I can't remember my bf's bday i can remember he's called john anderton..) knew what he was about to do he was able to "change his destiny. What punishment do you give, if any, to a man who was about to commit a crime but didn't cos you stopped him?

Also who wants to be a precog? Talk about a crappy job..

There was more than just a quote from Minority Report there.

From: someone

"Any government needs to act to protect its own people. Ask yourself the question, if you were able to detain a terrorist responsible for the deaths of thousands of people before that act took place, absolutely a government would make every effort in order to do that." -- Sean McCormack, U.S. State Department Spokesman, on secret prisons, Nov. 28th, 2005

I posted another example (besides secret prisons) of this type of thinking. Stopping crimes before they happen... whether it be with precognition or via making people take a lie detector test to get on an airplane.
