Alright, so for anyone not living under a rock, The Warriors is a huge cult film that has inspired countless hip hop artists and directors. I have been looking to rent a copy for forever, but I don't want to drive 30 miles through Los Angeles to do it. My local store doesn't carry a copy, however I have seen the dvd for sale recently.

I am afraid that it will suck and I'll curse myself for even having seen it if it does (which is how I feel about The Rocky Horror Picture Show and some other cult movies).

What do you think about it? Why?

I just rented it a few days ago since all the copies at my library were checked out.

It was really quite good. The plot, while not intricate, was well done. You could feel the sense of urgency, since the entire city was after them.

I've never seen Rocky Horror Picture show, but I wouldn't call this movie overrated. I had never heard of it before I heard about the game, and it was a nice surprise. You should definitely get it, though a 30 mile drive might be a bit much.

I saw "The Warriors"at the movie theatre when it first came out (1979). I remember it caused a few fights outside the movie theatre and the founding of a couple of new street gangs in my city (The Kingsmen and Maniac Latin Disciples). Good movie and of course I have it on video and the soundtrack on CD.

You got to take the movie for what it is; pure fun entertainment 70's style. Don't expect a "Boyz in the Hood" or any of the newer street gang flicks with a message,

- "The Warriors" computer game came out a couple of months ago.

- If you look closely in the all-gang summit sponsored by Cyrus, you will see Danny Bonaduce as a member of one of the attending gangs.

- James Remar (Ajax) is probably the best known actor to come out of that movie (Sex and the City). You also see David Patrick Keely (Luther) and Mercedes Ruhl (Police Woman) in quite a few tv shows and movies.

- Also the movie has some good music, especially the main theme by Barry de Vorzon.

My mail tends to disappear, thus I do not Netflix.

Heh. No, my mail is no longer preopened since I moved several times. My mail problems now come from living on a postal training route.

Gave the movie an 8 - Far Out.

As for the game: Am I the only one who was disappointed with this? Maybe I was just expecting too much GTA flavor in a Rockstar game. I knew it was basically a brawler...but somewhere in my head I must have hoped for a bit more knowing who it was coming from. Ah well.

(I will keep my eye out for it, though)

(P.S. How does one watch a film *without* analyzing it?)

Saw it at a drive in in 1979 after sneaking out of the house (movies were forbidden by Jesus of course). Very exciting at the time and scary.

I don't know how it would play today, probably kind of tame.

I remember it as being kind of like "Kiss meets West Side Story" or maybe "The Outsiders (on Acid)"

:)

I didn't see it until it hit video in the early 80's. I'd call it a guilty pleasure. Not the greatest film ever, but its entertaining. Gangs were everywhere and the Warriors were hauling ass trying to get back to Coney. Pretty standard stuff, but what really brought it together was the late Lynn Thigpen's ongoing DJ updates within the story. Its worth at least a rental.
