What a splendid holiday gift it is for all us progressives! Within the past few weeks we have:
  1. had DeLay indicted on money-laundering charges,
  2. had Lewis Libby, Cheney's Chief of Staff, indicted on charges of perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements in regards to the Plame affair,
  3. learned about secret CIA interrogation prisons in Eastern Europe,
  4. had the military admit they were spying on U.S. activists groups and citizens,
  5. heard that Bush ordered to have the NSA spy on citizens without warrants,
  6. had McCain push through his anti-torture legislation in opposition of Bush and Cheney's pro-torture stance,
  7. had portions of the "Patriot" Act blocked from being renewed.

The best gift of all is that Bush will be sweating over the NSA spying issue, the Patriot act, and the McCain bill all Christmas. :D

Happy Holidays!

That, and I'm still getting good listening mileage out of Coheed & Cambria's Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume I: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness.

Progressive rock, yo.

We should have a Mario Kart Double-Dash party to celebrate.

Sounds great! I am unstoppable (except for that dang Yoshi-shaped course).

I received my ACLU Online email this morning (sign up here) (or was it a MoveOn email) and for a change it actually had good news in it! It said "We Did It!" in regards to the blocking of the Patriot Act.

Things have been so depressing for the past five years, especially after that painful last election. It's so nice to see that the attempts to add authoritarian elements to our state are being rebuffed.

It looks like the way to get things done the right way is to make people scared they might lose their lucrative careers.

These are the best Christmas presents ever. I think this is the first time in my life I've ever been tempted to stand up and yell "Praise Jesus!!!" :D

What about Ganesh? You've made Ganesh sad. He is one depressed pachyderm. Give Ganesh a hug.

I suspect that it wasn't a selfless commitment to principles that turned this around but political and financial self interest as you suggest.

Had to look that one up

"The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth."

Ooooooh, shiny :D Praise Ganesh!
