Got a WoW news tip? Post here! Or just join me in Eitrigg so we can go noob raiding. :)

Heh, nothing goes on in Eitrigg, Hamlet. It's a care-bear backwater. I know, I have an alt 60 fury warrior that I made the mistake of transferring there. You might've picked one of the older, more established servers.

Stories? The Iraqi thing is so 2005 - nearly every guild I know of has one or more American and/or British soldiers who play from in-country and keep us appraised of goings-on there, in WoW and in real life. Guess what's the source of many pirated WoW copies in Iraq?

Try the nationality angle - especially on the PvP servers, there are guilds forming around nationalities and taking relevant real-world conflicts into the gaming arena. It happened first in Lineage between Chinese and South Korean players, and it's happening in WoW.

It actually happened in Everquest, back in 1999.

Yes it did. I remember a guild called something like Dragon Wu or whatnot on the Quellious server that was very nationality oriented (Japanese or Chinese, can't remember which) and very well-known for their less than stellar behavior toward other guilds. I think they were finally forcibly disbanded.

Didn't know that - never played Everquest. Very interesting. :)

I remember in DAOC when our guild formed an alliance with one of the Chinese guilds. That was one of the best moves for server dominance.

We have most time zones covered. :)

I'm catching up slowly, Clutterbuck! It may be common knowledge Coalition troops are playing WoW from Iraq, though I haven't seen much press about it. Know of any guild in particular I should look into that has many?

I love the idea of a carebear WoW server. I'm only in Eitregg because Joi Ito's guild is there. (When they're not in SL, that is, during server downtime.) ;)

Yay Hamlet! I hope you are a member of the Horde ;)

I'm part of a guild on Eitrigg server, with a couple other Second Lifers and a bunch of people I don't know ;) I'm a lvl 8 Undead Warlock, named, of course, Sansarya ;)

I think one news story that would have been interesting was a group of Second Lifers who went to Lightninghoof Server and formed a guild named The Feted Inner Horde (in honor of SL's FIC). Cristiano Midnight is one of the guild leaders, as was ReallyRick Metropolitan, Psyra Extraordinaire, April Firefly, and many others. The guild sort of stopped playing together a couple months ago.

However two of its members, Mulch Ennui and another player named Sulumor, continue on Lightninghoof (with me), and the two of them are ranked highly in the player vs. player rankings. Mulch is the 34th higest ranked player on Lightninghoof/Horde server while Sulumor is ranked 47th highest. (this means they are really, really awesome at killing other players on WoW battlegrounds). This is out of thousands of players on that server, and it bears mentioning that the two of them are also ranked among the top players of both Alliance and Horde on that server (a much larger group). Okay, so I'm bragging because my boyfriend is a great killer  , heh, but it's really exciting to watch these two players climb in rank every Tuesday when the results from the past week are released with the update.

Hope you have fun leveling Hamlet :)

ENEMY! I'M ALLIANCE! :)

I have thought about doing something about the Feted Horde, Sansarya, though that might seem too incestuous.

It is fun to take a break from the lucid dream sandbox and just do some old-skool hitting gnolls and whatnot.

Yes it's true, it was I that lead the revolt of SL'ers from the main grid of Second Life to the the World of Warcraft.

The history of how a group of residents took Lightninghoof by storm can be found on these forums beginning with my first experiences covered in the WoW thread and our guilds rapid growth from the Feted Inner Horde thread.

It is a shame to hear that Hamlet chose a carebear server and even more horrific that he chose to be part of the Alliance. At least he didn't pick a Paladin. ;) The F.I.H. had some pretty bad ass PvP'ers. I was able to reach the rank of Champion AND was #1 on the Horde side with the most lifetime Alliance kills for many months. Sadly I have had to stop WoW temporarily while I do not have access to my personal computer but I plan on coming back very soon, bigger and better than ever! SHAMMY'S FTW!

Glad to hear that many of you (Mulch, Sansa, Sulumor, Neehai) are still fighting the good fight and I hope you are still taking on those evil gankers at Tarren Mill.

See you all both in SL and WoW very soon!

My latest WoW story for Kotaku:

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/feature/wow-profile-this-years-leeroy-jenkins-174801.php

If the words "Throw more DoTs more DoTs more DoTs!" make you grin, then you'll probably want to read it. If you don't know what they mean, well, MAYBE YOU SHOULD.
