Question for the gamers out there

I went to a movie yesterday (Ultraviolet) and saw a preview for a movie called 'Stay Alive.'

It's a story about a group of kids that get a video game they shouldn't have that begins killing them off like they die in the game. Ok, so basically it's a video game version of the Ring, but it creeped me out. The previews made me not want to watch it, but I know I will since I am a sucker like that.

My husband plays Counter Strike all the time and he said he would be avoiding the movie so he doesn't get the heebie jeebies playing CS late at night, thinking someone is going to pop up behind him and shoot the hell out of him.

Would seeing this movie creep you out while playing your own game late at night?

ok.. i watched the trailer and it looks pretty well made and all.. but it's by NO means a new idea.

i suggest watching this B-grade fest of campy scifi-action-horrror first, Arcade.

of course, there's also Brainscan.. same genre as Arcade, but a little less psychological horror and more slasher.

in any case.. sure, i'll probably catch this new flick, too. i'll probably enjoy it and tell others they should check it out.. but i could very well end up waiting for the DVD to come out. (if i'm going to spend money at a theater, it'll be for a movie that needs to be seen on the big screen.)

I can't handle the psychological mind-fuck movies anymore.

And anything that uses the stop motion, frame skipping stuff really messes with me. I used to be the biggest fan of scary movies...but not anymore. Too damn scary!!

But I am sure I will rent the damn thing when it comes out on video because I am a freak like that.

I doubt that I will ever take up serious gaming though.

Those are two good sites about upcoming horror stuff if anyone is interested and didn't already know about them.

I cant say I've seen too many decent horror flics lately. The last one I watched that made me a bit paranoid was the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Fast running Zombies!!! No more walking past hordes of flesh-hungry dead people!!! Land of the Dead was ok, but since it wasnt made locally like Romero usually did, it just lacked something.

Other than those 2, most of the ones I've seen are just rehashed old stories.

But then....... Your Real Life could be Second Life..... Maybe you're an avatar who just doesnt realize it yet?? woooooooooooooooooooooo <-spooky moan

So ....

If I were playing PacMan I'd be eaten by a ghost.
Or if I were playing SL I'd be crushed under a falling herd of hippos? Or sent flying off into the next area code?

Looks scary. I'll be avoiding it like the plague.

Its not my kinda movie, but I doubt it'd worry me if I played computer games after seeing it..
