Would you vote for someone who expressly mentioned Manifest Destiny (as opposed to reframing the philosophy and repackaging it as something else)?

I think it's bad news and always has been. I also don't think that it's in any way limited to the United States. We just have a fancy name for it. It's a form of arrogance shared by most nations throughout history. Most just no longer have the financial strength or military power to project it beyond their borders anymore. Nationalism, the belief that a particular religion is correct, strong ethnic or racial identiy, they're basically all the same... herd behavior for fun and profit.

Considering that my Father’s family was very directly negatively affected by this "Manifest Destiny", I'd say that it's some pretty ugly imperialism.
I doubt that they wanted to be herded onto a reservation on the poorest of land in America or to have their children taken from them and put into "Christian" schools so that they could be prevented from learning their native language or traditions. Manifest Destiny Sucks unless you are the mower as opposed to the grass being mowed down.  . _____________________
