I have the misfortune of living in this backward state and my own child (an honor student) was sent to the discipline office by the police (!) for wearing a skirt that was "too short". This is a skirt I purchased for her to wear to Mass on Christmas, so if it was good enough to go to church in, I thought it was ok for her to wear to middle school. When I called the dean after the incident, I was told that there are police officers stationed at EVERY school in our county. He thought it was a great thing since "If there's a fight, the students can be arrested and sent to jail straight from school". I informed the dean that unless my child was breaking a federal, state or local law, I DO NOT want the police officers stationed at her school having anything to do with her AT ALL. Police in Florida tasered a 6 year old, so I think I have a reason to be concerned about the police presence at her school. _____________________

OMG - after reading that I'm kind of wondering WTF is wrong with America? Police at every school in our country? ![]() "It is when power is wedded to chronic fear that it becomes formidable." "The only index by which to judge a government or a way of life is by the quality of the people it acts upon. No matter how noble the objectives of a government, if it blurs decency and kindness, cheapens human life, and breeds ill will and suspicion- it is an evil government." "Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life. Thus people haunted by the purposelessness of their lives try to find a new content not only by dedicating themselves to a holy cause but also by nursing a fanatical grievance. A mass movement offers them unlimited opportunities for both." -- Eric Hoffer |

OMG - after reading that I'm kind of wondering WTF is wrong with America? Police at every school in our country? ![]() That isn't true, speaking from experience. Now, NOT speaking from experience but simply conjecture, I suspect, if we let C equal the amount of cops per 100 students in a school population, and P equals the population density of the school district (IE, city, big city, rural, small town, etc), I suspect that we would find C varies directly with P. _____________________
I am myself indifferent honest; but yet I could accuse me of such things that it were better my mother had not borne me: I am very proud, revengeful, ambitious, with more offenses at my beck than I have thoughts to put them in, imagination to give them shape, or time to act them in. What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.

I said...."There are police officers stationed at every school in our COUNTY", not COUNTRY.
For some reason, Marion County feels that there needs to be police presence in every school here. This relates to the original post because it was about tasering 6 year olds and the incident that sparked that ruling came about because there were police officers stationed at that kid's school and when the kindergartner went apeshit, they tasered him instead of calling his mother. ![]() _____________________
