"The Bund", also called the Zhongshan Road, has some really cool architecture, a lot of it with European influences. There are examples of Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism, and Renaissance architecture, and LOTS of banks.
There is the ancient Longhua Temple (1700 years old) in the south part of the old city.
The Pearl of the Orient radio tower, as well as several world class skyscrapers in Pu Dong (New City).
There is the Shanghai museum, a zoo, and an aquarium as well.
The subway system is really cool, and there is a Maglev express train built by a German company that goes incredibly fast (430km/h - making it the world's fastest train!) - and runs from Pudong airport to Shanghai, connecting to the Shanghai Metro (subway system).
