I think your facts might be a little confused. This guy mentioned 17,000 US dead and wounded two weeks ago, but i can't find what senator you're talking about?

I had read somewhere the government would not provide doctors to declare a soldier dead until the soldier would arrive in Germany. Once in Germany a doctor could verify the death, but it wouldn't be classified as a death in Iraq.

Apparently it is slowing Department of Defense network access significantly. The plot continues to thicken, Magnum, and you were right all along! |

Now I think this war is the stupidest thing this country has done in decades, but which Senator said 17,000 deaths? Are you sure he didn't say "casualties"? As a casualty can be either a death or injury. |

I heard someone on NPR a few weeks back talk about this and he also said that the total was for both KIA and wounded.
This particular "real death toll" rumor has been around a while. _____________________
