Since the illegal and needless war started in Iraq, the United States has lost 17000 Troops according to one senator.

This senator just said this on the Floor of the Senate, today About an Hour or so ago

I think your facts might be a little confused. This guy mentioned 17,000 US dead and wounded two weeks ago, but i can't find what senator you're talking about?

Maybe the same guy: I just heard him today say deaths. He said it on the senate floor just an hour ago

I had read somewhere the government would not provide doctors to declare a soldier dead until the soldier would arrive in Germany. Once in Germany a doctor could verify the death, but it wouldn't be classified as a death in Iraq.

If you're talking about Wilson, then that 17000 includes all injuries.. so, the basis of this thread is misinformation.

It took a tattooed boy from Birkenhead to really really open her eyes.

I heard a different senator call for an inquiry into the SL preview grid. Apparently it is slowing Department of Defense network access significantly.

The plot continues to thicken, Magnum, and you were right all along!

Yes, but you heard wrong.

Simply because you mishear something, doesn't make it true.

Obviously I can't compete with logic like that.

Ambassador Wilson used the figure for deaths and injuries. Now I think this war is the stupidest thing this country has done in decades, but which Senator said 17,000 deaths? Are you sure he didn't say "casualties"? As a casualty can be either a death or injury.

I heard someone on NPR a few weeks back talk about this and he also said that the total was for both KIA and wounded.

This particular "real death toll" rumor has been around a while.
