Dear christ, it took me a week to finish cleaning mine... no mooooore!

Just delete everything named Object or Snapshot and everything you can't remember. If you can replace it, get better or make better -- delete it. There's no such thing as 'I may need it one day' because you've been saying that for two years. The end.

*grumbles*.. okay.. my inventory may not be as big as nimrod's but yeah.. it's pretty horrific.. every time I think about organizing it i get this overwhelmedfrustrateddownpillowissmotheringme feeling.. so it's been a while..

i'd say that i'd pay someone to do it for me.. but i dont want people stealing my shit

I have lots and lots of subfolders. With clothes, I have folders for my favorite designers, and folders for types of item for anything made by other people-- pants, shirts, etc.

I do delete anything called Object, but I don't delete unlabelled snapshots; I just separate them into their own folder so I can (hopefully, at some point) go through them and either toss or rename them.

I have objects in subfolders by category: sports, food, household, etc. This is the toughest category to keep organized, I have to keep redoing it over and over to keep it halfway neat.

I have a ton of hair, and some I don't wear anymore, so if it isn't transferable I've started putting it in prim boxes for storage; I just label the prim with what's stored inside. I've also started using storage boxes for things like notecards, etc. that I don't want to toss but don't need to access all the time.

I've also started going through my animations folder and deleting duplicate freebies, and separating the rest into anims and poses. (Another time consuming folder to get organized.)

Two things help:

One, delete notecards. Most cards don't say much more than "Thank you for your purchase". Others are for things you don't care about two months later. Trash them. Then don't forget to purge your trash folder.

Two, move landmarks to notecards. You can consolidate several landmarks - and add your own notes so you remember WHY you landmarked them - into one card and delete the landmark. Boom, fewer inventory items.

After that, I can't help you. My inventory passed 15,000 items this week and I'm drowning in crap.

I make lockers to store things I hardly or never access and don't want to delete yet.

Unlike my RL place which is a mess, I regularly screen my inventory and developed some habits that slow down object accumulation.
