My mother is now 60 years old. She has TONS of these little dolls in transparent plastic tubes, that she collected many years ago while visiting many places in the world. I just called her to ask and she said most of them were bought in "collection boutiques" in Europe, sort of souvenir shops where they were selling dolls with the looks from many countries. Looks like it to me. Souvenir from Findland or something near that, during the 1950s. Good luck, keep us informed!! NB. What do you plan on doing with it anyways, if I may ask? I'd try eBay if you don't care to keep it! Who knows! : )

I hope you've at least poked holes in the lid for her.

Poor thing.

Looks like "Jous" to me too. Maybe these enhanced photos can be of help to people.

I can't make out the letters below Jous. I looks like it could be Turro, Turru, Torro or something. But i could have all of those letters wrong since its so hard to see. They are almost just white dots.

I found some china in the basement also. I found a few sites with the maker and some china with the same pattern but i can't find any of these exact dishes. Maybe they are rare? I need some help. :)

They are made by Royal Albert. One is called "Silver Birch" and the other is "Blossom Time".

NO NO NO! She's in cryogenic suspension! If you thaw her out before we discover a cure for whatever she had... she's done for!

:D

ahh this is much easier -- just google

"Royal Albert" "Silver Birch"

and

"Royal Albert" "Blossom Time"

and you'll see others for sale on ebay as well as stores selling replacements. For china, an entire set is worth the sum of it's parts, but by judging what the replacement price is for the specific parts you have, you can get an idea of what they're worth.

still working on the doll. I'm learning mroe than I ever wanted to know about the Laplandic doll tradition in Finland. :p

I've seen these dolls before, like on the pages of The National Enquirer, but I had forgotten what they were called.

I'd second Elka Lehne's proposal for putting it up on eBay and seeing what happens. You never know what someone else may value that particular item at. Could be just what someone is looking for to complete some collection of these particular packaged dolls.

I've sold lots of stuff on eBay and generally let the consumers dictate its worth (within reason). Just meaning that I usually start the bid low and see how well it ends up doing after a week.

In one extreme and exciting example, I set my starting bid at a two hundred dollars, went almost the full auction period without a single bid, and in the last 5 minutes of auction the crowd went into a frenzy trying to outbid eachother. I ended up getting nearly $1000 for this item I never would have thought could have reached that worth or value in someone elses eyes.

Like it was said previously: Who knows! Good luck.

Added: What's it worth to you, by the way? That might be a good indicator to start your bid at. What value does the item hold to you sentimentally or otherwise. What's the lowest amount of money you're willing to part with it for? Keep that in mind when placing your starting bid and/or a reserve.

I just found it stashed in the basement. Nobody seems to know anything about it. It doesn't mean a single thing to me and I'm sure someone else would love to have it for a doll collection. But I wonder if I should try an antique or doll shop and see if anybody there knows anything before I go to ebay.
