I just recieved my first Windows PC in about a decade. I've split the last decade between Linux and Macs, and I've seen SL performs so damn good on a PC that I splurged on a Dell XPS laptop (2 GB RAM/ 256 MB GeForce Go 7800 GTX).

Here's my first question:

What is a good multi-network IM client for Windows?

Out of the box it had a tiny scratch on it, which is no biggie to me but I know it would drive some people nuts :(

Trillian, hands down one of the nicest multi IM client out there, supports Yahoo, AIM, ICQ and I think even MSN messenger.

Should be able to find it on www.download.com

One program that allows connections to multiple network protocols; i.e. Yahoo, AIM, Irc, Jabber(google talk).

I'll toss in my vote for trillian with this warning. If you use any yahoo features other then IM then get Yahoo's program. I use Trillian ONLY for IMS cause yahoo tries to block other features access every few months.

Yup I've been using Trillian since the first reply and it seems to be working out for me.

Ouch. You should have waited for the new Apple x86 laptops. They're just as filling but without that bitter Windows aftertaste.

Yup... I'm all over one when they come out. But I can't bring myself around to buying an obsolete PPC, and I needed a new machine (left my last job who owned all the machines I used).

SL is a very lousy single network chat client with an extremely small user base.
