Amanda Congdon Gets Neufreistadted

Amanda Congdon, formerly of Rocketboom, following her release of a clip confirming her termination from Rocketboom, has released another statement today. The blog entry is a transcript of an email sent by her former partner, that reveals third-party negotiations with a mediator have ceased and that her former partner is claiming she forfeited her 49% share in the business by "moving away". This is especially poignant to me, being involved in a similar dispute in world.

I have to say she's a rather attractive young lady, but what does this have to do with... erm... anything?

Rocketboom has done interviews regarding SL. When I last talked to Amanda, I was pleasantly suprised by her enthusiasm for Secondlife, even though there were some technical problems during the interview process.

I wish her the best, I'm sure she'll land somewhere where she's more appreciated.

Apparently she's an obnoxious tantrum throwing terrorist, or something. I didnt really get the link either.

Get out! I didn't know she's been in SL. I'm a huge fan of this talented young entrepreneur. She brought a Letterman-esque playfulness to an interesting variety format, sprinkled in a little bit of my type of politics, and avoided resorting to excessive female exploitation (think French Maid TV) to promote the show.

It's been a few days since I've posted an update. Much has happened.

What they're calling "Rocketboom 2.0 beta" has premiered with the new interim scab, er, I mean host, Joanne Colan. Watch it here. He of great hubris, Andrew Baron, makes an appearance but mercifully keeps his mouth shut.

Meanwhile, Amanda Congdon appeared on Scarborough Country, which can be seen at this link here. It's an excellent and interesting interview. I especially enjoyed the final observation that Andrew Baron appears to be recreating the show despite his claim that he would not. I'm quite familiar with this "reverse engineering" in the face of conflict myself.

To answer your question, yes.

Ethical business practices, justice, politics, and technology are something in which I have great interest. Thus, a situation where a young intelligent entrepreneur is unfairly deprived of her intellectual property by an unethical business partner gets my attention. After all, no one likes seeing smart, creative people get ripped off by their less capable and creative counterparts.

Since Ulrika is on vacation, I'll have to take up this torch for her.

Amanda has not announced new plans yet for her next project, as she's having too much fun dancing at a wedding. It's a charming video of her dancing with her father at her best friend's wedding. At first she pulls you in, garnering sympathy with her nervous stiff dancing and awkward hugging but suddenly she remembers she's a world-renowed exhibitionist known for her funny Rocketboom dancing and starts cutting up the rug white-girl style.

Not as political but I think I did a pretty good job.
